One of the world's
Great Dramatic Soprano, Dame Josephine Barstow, never made a major
recording until JAY had the vision to invite her to record in some
of her greatest Verdian roles that she sang throughout the world
(La Scala, Vienna, The Metropolitan (New York), Paris Opera, The
Royal Opera, Covent Garden etc.)
Following the initial British release of this CD, she was immediately
invited by Herbert Von Karajan to sing the leading role of Amelia
in his new recording of UN BALLO IN MASCHERA for D.G. That was
rapidly followed by recordings for EMI, DECCA, PHILLIPS and others.
For this CD, Dame Josephine sings arias from VERDI's Macbeth,
La Forza Del Destino, Un Ballo In Maschera, Don Carlo, La Traviata,
Othello and Aida.
Conducted by Mark Elder, this is one of the series of recordings
that JAY made with the English National Opera.
