In October 1989 the legendary Elisabeth Welch returned to her native New York to tumultuous acclaim for two concerts at the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall. These evenings themselves have passed into legend but are presented here for posterity by JAY Records.

Elisabeth Welch Live In New York is only one of the works Miss Welch has undertaken for release by JAY Records and in the coming months her album, THIS THING CALLED LOVE, IRVING BERLIN SONGBOOK and JEROME KERN SONGBOOK are to be released.

The songs features here contain all the frisson and excitement of the live performances, punctuated by Miss Welch’s telling wit and masterful yet gracious command of her audience.
