Once again this addition to TER’s Music Theatre Hour series is a masterpiece of musical theatre and presents highlights of JAY Productions complete recording (CDJAY2 1296) Produced after a prolonged critical and physical low point, Cole Porter’s return with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Kiss Me Kate, with it’s added layers of theatrical backstage melodrama, proved to be his long running swan song, and contained some of his best loved show tune compositions including “Another Op’nin, Another Show”, “Why Can’t You Behave?”, “Wunderbar”, “So In Love”, “Too Darn Hot”, “Always True To You In My Fashion”  and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”.

This digitally and dolby surroud, but mid-priced recording, containing an hour of music utilises the original orchestrations performed by the National Symphony Orchestra with ‘true theatrical spirit’, and was recorded at the internationally renowned Abbey Road studios. The leading roles are sung by our very own international opera stars Thomas Allen and Diana Montague, giving what Gramophone termed ‘an aristocratic performance’ and are supported by Graham Bickley and Diane Langton, both no stranger to West End and television audiences.
