Martin Yates studied conducting at the Royal
College of Music and Trinity College in London. He made his
debut conducting Bizet's CARMEN with the Israel National Opera
in Tel-Aviv has since conducted many Operas, including TOSCA,
LA BOHEME, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, LA TRAVIATA, LA BELLE HELENE, and
ALBERT HERRING.
In 1993 he worked with Sir George Solti at
the Salzburg Festival on Verdi's opera FALSTAFF with the Vienna
Philharmonic Orchestra.
Martin has also conducted a considerable amount
of Ballet with many of the world's leading companies in SWAN
LAKE, THE NUTCRACKER, The RITE OF SPRING, THE FIREBIRD, NEOPOLITANA,
TALES FROM THE VIENNA WOODS.
In Britain Martin Yates has conducted the Philharmonia
and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, The Wren and National
Symphony Orchestra and makes regular appearances with them in
London's concert halls.
Martin has been also been Musical Director
of many top London musicals including THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA,
MISS SAIGON and SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS and national
tours of SWEENEY TODD, THE GIRL FRIEND, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
and repertory production soif OLIVER! THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG,
WEST SIDE STORY, GOOD, AMADEUS AND SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM.
Martin has made numerous recordings of musicals
including JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, NICK & NORA, ANNIE, BRIGADOON,
CAROUSEL and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. He has conducted the
great Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe in a recording
for RCA records.
