American born Kim Criswell made her name in this
country when she took on the title role in Irving Berlin's Annie
Get Your Gun at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. Before
this she had been a Broadway star where she played opposite Sting
in The Threepenny Opera and appeared alongside Raoul Julia in
the musical Nine as well as appearing in Kismet and Jesus Christ
Superstar. She went on to have a huge success as Grizabella in
the Los Angeles production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats stopping
the show nightly with her haunting rendition of Memory. Kim Criswell
has also made numerous appearances on the concert platform with
some of the world's leading symphony orchestras including the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra as well
as the Boston Pops. She has made many records for EMI including
the musicals Anything Goes and Kiss Me Kate. She made her film
debut in Paramount Pictures True Colours and was seen in the American
TV film Savage Play.
