Born in Glasgow, John at the age of 8 moved
with his family to the States and later studied Musical Theatre
at the United States International University in San Diego,
California. On returning to the UK John immediately landed the
starring role opposite Elaine Page in ANYTHING GOES at the Prince
Edward Theatre. He then played "Chris" in MISS SAIGON,
followed by the title role in the musical Matador opposite Stephanie
Powers at The Queen's Theatre, then "Raoul" in PHANTOM
OF THE OPERA at Her Majesty's Theatre. He starred as "Claude"
in the 25th anniversary London revival of HAIR at the Old Vic
Theatre before resuming the starring role of "Chris"
in MISS SAIGON at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, followed by
Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit production of SUNSET BOULEVARD at
the Adelphi Theatre, London. John made his Broadway debut as
"Joe Gillis" in SUNSET BOULEVARD opposite Betty Buckley,
his co-star from the London production for a special 10 performances.
He plays the leading role of "Peter Fairchild"
in the CBS network TV series CENTRAL PARK WEST for writer/producer
Darren Star.
John was also a regular presenter on LIVE AND
KICKING for BBC TV on which he then presented his ELECTRIC CIRCUS.
He has also hosted two series of THE MOVIE GAME, also for BBC
television.
